What is a human purpose in these times?

When was the last time you heard anyone talk about having a purpose? When did you last have a conversation about purpose? It’s probably not that often. And yet, if you pause for just a moment and ask What is a human purpose in these times? What arises in you? What does purpose even mean anyway? Where do we find examples and demonstrations of purpose in the natural world (and it’s always best to look towards the natural worlds for the answers).

Well, how about a seed that is buried in the earth. Isn’t it the seeds purpose to surrender to a process where the seed grows and transforms, and somewhere along its journey it becomes a flower. And doesn’t the flower then have its purpose? Does the bee not then, in part of its purpose become part of the flower's purpose with its purpose. Maybe pause long enough and seek out similar examples, there’ll be millions. And in amongst all of those millions there’ll be humans. And what of the human purpose in these times? Might it be different to other times?

If we can at least entertain the notion that the human has a purpose we can then gain access to the territory. It becomes an opportunity to learn and discover something about the human design. The question can lead us down many roads, and we can easily complicate matters, we humans are very good at complicating matters.

So let’s start with something simple, and something we can relate to. Music. Wonderful music. Music that moves us, inspires us, evokes feelings in us that we didn’t even know we could feel. And music played by the violinist, the saxophonist, or the pianist. Such talents and skills are available for the human. The human has the ability, the equipment, the capacity to play these instruments. A fox, mouse or Eagle do not. Sure they create their own music, but on this occasion, this is not where we are.

Where we are is that might it be a human purpose to express the higher realms of creation, and in a way allow the universe to talk to us, connect to us through the musician in ways that differ to the fox, mouse or eagle. And this is just about music. What about art, dance, poetry, being of service to help save the planet and all life that lives on it-including the human. It’s worth asking What is a human purpose in these times?
