I’m Liz Langford, a Diploma-qualified Sound Therapist, trained Yoga Therapist, and specialist Prāṇāyāma teacher based in Lincolnshire, UK, working both locally and online. I offer yoga therapy, breath-centred practices, and sound-based work to support regulation, clarity, and reconnection.
I spent over 25 years working as a scientist in NHS pathology, alongside a long-standing interest in the ancient art and science of yoga and holistic therapies. My initial pathway into sound came through training with the British Academy of Sound Therapy, followed by extensive yogic training, with significant specialist study in the Gitananda lineage of Rishiculture Ashtanga Yoga.
This includes Yoga Chikitsā (Yoga Therapy), specialist teacher training in Prāṇāyāma, and tuition in Nāda Yoga, including mantra and devotional singing — where sound is experienced not as something external, but as something generated, felt, and integrated from within.
At heart, my work brings sound, breath, and awareness together in a way that is grounded, participatory, and accessible, supporting regulation, coherence, and a deeper sense of connection — without performance or pressure. I work with deep respect for the body, the nervous system, and individual lived experience.
Working therapeutically with sound and yoga opened a deep curiosity into vibration, rhythm, and tone, and their effects on the nervous system, emotional states, and our sense of inner organisation.
Sound has been a significant part of my own wellbeing journey and spiritual development. This path has involved exploring sound in different forms — both as external immersion and as something generated from within — each offering a gateway into greater awareness, regulation, and inner freedom.
My passion lies in helping others honour the intelligence of the body, moving away from the idea that healing is something done to us, and instead empowering individuals to initiate that pathway from within. This invites active participation, deep listening, and a sense of agency.
My own experience of health and wellbeing shifted profoundly when I began working with self-generated sound — reconnecting with my own voice through breath, mantra, and vibration. I discovered how sound can organise the nervous system from within, supporting regulation and gently dissolving limitations and obstacles that had previously felt fixed.
Through my own healing journey and years of therapeutic work with others, I’ve seen how sound can bypass overthinking, soften held patterns, and restore a sense of inner safety and coherence. Used skillfully, sound becomes both grounding and liberating — steadying the system while opening space for expression and release.
This Nāda Prāṇāyāma workshop offers a gentle, progressive exploration of sound as a Yogic practice for releasing held tension, softening inner resistance, and rediscovering a sense of freedom and ease.
We begin with simple jāttis — gentle movements — to loosen the body and prepare the breath, followed by guided breathing practices with sound to support resonance and awareness. Participants are invited to experience sound not as performance, but as a lived, embodied experience of vibration, rhythm, and expression.
In yogic and Ayurvedic traditions, sound is closely linked with prāṇa, the nervous system, and the subtle pathways of communication within the body. Particular attention is given to the mouth, jaw, throat, and tongue — areas that often hold unexpressed tension and habitual restraint. Through humming, chanting, and conscious sounding, these regions are gently invited to soften, allowing sound to arise with less effort and greater authenticity.
No prior experience with chanting, singing, or yoga is needed, and there is no expectation to “sing” or sound in any particular way. This is an inclusive, supportive space where sound is approached as a tool for listening, sensing, releasing, and reconnecting, rather than effort or performance.
By the end of the session, participants often feel steadier, clearer, and more at ease — with a renewed connection to their own voice, breath, and inner rhythm.
