Authenticity has become a bit of a buzzword in recent years, but when this happens the word itself loses all meaning. These are words we may use, or advise, but very rarely actually embody.

Ask yourself this, what does authenticity actually mean to you, and, what does it mean to be YOUR authentic self? What does it look and feel like? Is this something you’ve ever asked yourself? If not, I invite you to explore it and see what comes up for you. This is where you can start to understand and get to know yourself more and actually start to align yourself with what truly matters to you.

Because that’s what being authentic is about, being true to yourself. Being yourself completely and unapologetically, regardless of what other people might think, without feeling the need to change who you are, according to who you’re with.

How?

Start by questioning whether or not things feel aligned for you, whether that’s the people you spend time with, the programmes you watch, accounts you follow, even down to the clothes you wear and the choices that you make.

Instead, start to focus on what lights you up, people that inspire you, things that make you feel good, and if you’re unsure, experiment; allow yourself to explore and have fun. Sometimes it's not about having to create a brand new you, but instead rediscovering who you were, before they told you who to be.

Start getting to know yourself through things like journaling, meditation, movement, creative expression, breathwork and simply just

‘being’
- spend time with yourself without distraction.

Start sharing your opinion boldly and whilst this might feel like an edge at first, lean into that discomfort, because it’s in doing this that we’re able to grow and keep expanding. Your voice and your opinion deserve to be heard, so allow yourself to take up space.

One sentence that really hit home for me, but carries so much truth is “what other people think of you is none of your business”

It stung, but it’s because it’s true. We often spend so much time worrying about what other people think of us, that we actually end up not liking ourselves.

Rediscovering your authentic self is freeing and liberating, so give yourself that permission slip today, to finally step into your truth and be who you want to be without playing into societal conditioning.
